It maz be hard to believe, but The Last of Us will be celebrating its tenth birthday next year. The game still looks fantastic, especially thanks to the remaster. Still, many fans of Joel and Ellie's adventures want TLoU to receive a full-fledged remake. Some time ago, journalist Tom Henderson, known for his many confirmed leaks, announced that according to his information such a version of the game is already on the verge of completion, and now we receive further information that keeps this hope alive.
TLoU remake getting closer?
In a series of tweets published over the past month, Robert Morrison, a veteran game animator who recently worked on God of War at Sony Santa Monica, stated that PlayStation "has some blockbusters coming out this year" and referred to an unannounced project he is working on. The animator stated that it's not about the upcoming God of War: Ragnarök.
A post on LinkedIn shows that Morrison is currently working for PlayStation Studios Visual Arts, and this studio that, according to various reports, is to be responsible for the remake of The Last of Us for PlayStation 5. It was previously reported that the unannounced title could be released later this year, and VGC has learned that work on the remake is nearing completion. Although the project has not been officially announced by Sony, last April Bloomberg reported that it was being worked on and would be released on PS5.
TV series may be a great advertisement for the game
Interestingly, as noted by social media users, the animator mentions The Last of Us in many posts. In one of them, he states that it is his favorite game. Although Sony's game catalog for the rest of this year is empty for now, it has been rumored for some time that Naughty Dog is working on a remake of The Last Of Us, which will coincide with the upcoming HBO series. This would make a lot of sense, as an analogous situation related to the popularity of the first season of The Witcher shows how interest in the adaptation of a well-known universe can affect the popularity of the game itself.
