The Last of Us Part 2 Will Get a 'New Version'
The composer of the music in The Last of Us has revealed that a new version of the second game is being prepared. For now, it is not known whether it is a remaster or a remake.
There are many indications that Sony is preparing a refreshed version of The Last of Us: Part II, or the second installment of Naughty Dog's hit series.
- The source of these reports is Gustavo Santaolalla, the Argentinian artist who composed the soundtracks for both installments of the series.
- In an interview with the Blender channel, he revealed that work is underway on a "new version" of The Last of Us: Part II. Santaolalla is expected to appear in it in a small role as an in-game character who will play various tracks.
- Unfortunately, the artist did not say anything more specific about it.
- Considering how exquisite The Last of Us: Part II looks on PS4, it seems that a remaster is more likely than a remake. However, gamers have said similar things regarding the first installment, and yet Sony has prepared The Last of Us: Part I.
- Such a refreshed version would certainly hit the PlayStation 5, and some time later it would probably also arrive on PC, and thus PC gamers would have access to both installments.
Preparing a refreshed version of The Last of Us: Part II seems to be an attractive proposition for Sony, especially given the increased interest in the entire brand following the success of HBO's TV adaptation.
Some gamers will complain that the second part doesn't need a refresh, but such a project will undoubtedly sell well, and the very fact that sooner or later it will also hit the PC is reason enough to keep our fingers crossed for its creation.
Recall that The Last of Us: Part II was released in June 2020 exclusively on PlayStation 4. The game's plot turned out to be highly controversial, but that didn't stop the game from collecting excellent reviews and achieving great commercial success (within a year of its release 10 million copies were sold).
