Underrated Open-World RPG Gets Sequel. Outward 2 Promises Improvements in Every Aspect
Nine Dots Studio released today a trailer for the RPG Outward 2. As the developers assure, the sequel is expected to be much better than the first part of this open-world adventure.
The RPG game Outward, which was moderately received by players, is getting a sequel. Nine Dots Studio announced this by releasing a trailer for the pre-alpha version of this game today. The devs plans are ambitious, as they promise that the second installment of the series will surpass the original in every respect.
- As the developer assures, in the open world of Outward 2, the time of day will be important, and the weather will affect the behavior of NPCs.
- The character creator and its development will also be enhanced.
- A new combat system will also be introduced, enabling players to, for instance, wield two weapons simultaneously.
No release date for Outward 2 has been revealed yet, but a game card has already been created on Steam. The title is also expected to be released on consoles (specific details haven't been provided yet).
Let's remind that in the first installment of Outward we can join one of four factions. Each one offers our protagonist unique opportunities for growth and to some extent, a distinct storyline that takes place in the land of Aurai. The first game was released in March 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Three years later, the game also became available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It's also scheduled to be released on Nintendo Switch at the end of March this year.
The game received relatively low ratings despite being considered interesting by many players. So far, the game has been positively reviewed by 73% of over 25,000 people on Steam. Nevertheless, many fans still enjoy it. At the moment as I'm writing this, 695 players are playing this game on Valve's platform. The record for activity set five years ago exceeds 11,000 simultaneous players.
Finally, let us add that there is currently a large promotion for this title on Steam. We will only need to pay $5.99 for the Outward Definitive Edition until March 13 (the standard price is $39.99).
