The GTA 6 release date has been 'leaked' and the day seems pretty legit

Will we get to play Grand Theft Auto VI this fall? It seems like one store has some good news for us.

It's already 2025, and we still haven't heard any new official updates on Grand Theft Auto VI, not even a hint about a second trailer. However, as has been the case with Rockstar Games recently, a potential release date has just been ‘leaked’. And if it’s true, they really don't seem to have much luck keeping things quiet.

Could this be the day?

The question of whether GTA VI will arrive in 2025 has been a constant source of speculation. Rockstar teased a 2025 release in their first trailer in December 2023, but they've been completely silent since then. We still don’t have an exact date, with the only update so far being Take-Two’s confirmation of an autumn 2025 launch.

Now it looks like a South American retailer, XUruguay, might have accidentally revealed the release date for GTA VI, listing it as September 17, 2025. This would mean the game might launch on the exact same day as GTA V did, 12 years ago – an interesting and somewhat fitting coincidence.

The date has since been taken down from the XUruguay website, but the trail of mystery has been set. While this store might not be familiar to most of us, it's a genuine business with a 97% trust score and high ratings on Tripadvisor. So, that gives the ‘leak’ a bit more weight and makes it even more interesting.

Could February 6th be the day to confirm this date? That's when Take-Two releases their earnings report, and many believe it's the perfect opportunity for them to drop some long-awaited GTA VI news.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
