The Forever Winter Devs Fill In-Game Map with Scans of Russian Equipment Destroyed by Ukrainians
The attention to detail and how they were introduced impressed players of the shooter set in a dark future.
On September 23, Fun Dog Studios released an early version of The Forever Winter, a post-apocalyptic TPP shooter set in a world ravaged by war (and its consequences). Although the game has received mostly mixed reviews so far, fans and critics agree that it has enormous potential, which may be realized after optimization improvements - the game's atmosphere itself is impeccable.
Another thing be pointed out is the attention to detail. One of the players noticed a nice detail, which is the use of damaged Russian equipment in the work on the models.
"Finally a good way to use Russian tanks"
Looking closely at the tanks in The Forever Winter, a certain Twitter/X user noticed that they were created using photoscans of Russian equipment destroyed by the Ukrainians.
The individual elements indeed accurately reflect what we see on the page that stores 3D models of damaged machines. One of the commentators even posted a photo showing a wrecked tank in Kiev, destroyed at the very beginning of the war - it also made it into Fun Dog Studios' game.
This subtle tactic was warmly received by Internet users, who appreciated the use of authentic vehicles and weapons. Some openly admit that Russian tanks have finally been put to good use.
The Forever Winter is the first game from Fun Dog Studios, a studio which has already been praised for its unconventional approach to earnings. The title is available at an affordable price of 27 dollars, because - as the creators argue - "no one should pay more than 50 dollars for a video game". It's also worth bearing in mind that the shooter is still in early access and many elements will be improved in the coming months.
