Steam's Winter Sale sparked a revival of The Forest, a first-person survival game released in 2018.

The sudden surge in the game's popularity is due to its significant discount - as part of the Steam Winter Sale, you can buy it for just $1.99. This is a record-breaking 90 percent discount. This title has never been so cheap before.

  1. Taking this opportunity, players practically threw themselves at The Forest. Thanks to this, yesterday the game set a new activity record with 97,964 players playing simultaneously on Steam (via SteamDB).
  2. This isn't the first time that The Forest has greatly benefited from a big discount. During last year's autumn sale on Steam, the game reached a peak of 78,000 players playing at the same time. Now this result has been significantly surpassed, and Christmas Eve 2024 and the next two holiday days can only help in establishing a new peak.

The Forest was released in Early Access on PC in 2014, and four years later version 1.0 launched, as well as a conversion for PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, there is currently no sale for this game on the Sony console.

The Forest enjoys a great reputation among players. On Steam, 95% of the reviews (both overall and from the last 30 days) praise this title, which the platform categorizes as an "overwhelmingly positive" reception of the game. It's worth mentioning that during the Winter Sale, the sequel, Sons of the Forest, was also discounted. You can buy this game now for $14.99.
