Community is a comedy TV series that takes a look at the adventures of the students of Greendale Community College, where the weakest high school graduates, housewives and retirees study, and their lives are filled with protests, fun, romance... everything but studying.

The production was liked by viewers and critics, but there was one person among the stars who was not entertained by Community. This is Chevy Chase, who has had a difficult time with this production. During an interview with WTF with Marc Maron, the actor confessed that the TV show was not funny enough for him.

I honestly felt the show wasn’t funny enough for me, ultimately. I felt a little bit constrained… Everybody had their bits, and I thought they were all good. It just wasn’t hard hitting enough for me. I didn’t mind the character. I just felt that it was… I felt happier being alone. I just didn’t want to be surrounded by that table, every day, with those people. It was too much.

Joel McHale, another actor appearing in Community, chose to respond to Chase's accusation during an interview with People, confessing that his set mate's words stopped hurting him in 2009, which is when the series debuted.

He stopped hurting my feelings in 2009. I was like, “Hey, no one was keeping you there”. I mean, we weren't sentenced to that show. It was like, “All right, you could have left if you really wanted that”. But yeah, you know Chevy. That's Chevy being Chevy. I wrote about this in my book, but I was like, “Hey, the feeling's mutual, bud”.

Chase made no secret of the fact that he was not fond of Community, in which he starred and from which he eventually left. This is quite the opposite case to Tim Allen, who loved the comedy series that he was starring in so much that he regretted that they had to end it after another star left, as he himself would have been happiest to appear in it for as long as possible.
