A work-in-progress version of The Endless Express—a follow-up to the game jam production entitled Endless Express—has been made available for free by its developers: Florian Veltman, Alexandre Taillefert, Martin Gugger, Felix Meunier, and Baptiste Virot (thanks, Rock, Paper, Shotgun). The title was initially to be the team’s first commercial project but in the end it turned out that the crew was not experienced enough to make it happen.

This game was intended as our first commercial game, after making the 2014 game jam game we thought it'd be cool to expand on the concept and try to put in all the ideas we had for the game jam. The project ended up being a bit too big for us to actually properly finish, we wanted to do so much more with the concept! Our team just wasn't experienced enough in making vidgams. So yeah that's why we decided to release the project in its current state, hoping someone would enjoy playing it despite the rough edges!

In The Endless Express, we assume the role of a character who fell asleep while travelling on a train. Having found himself in an unknown place, the protagonist has to find a way home. This is where the actual adventure starts. On our journey back, we will meet various people and possibly make friends with them. You can watch some gameplay footage below.

For the moment, The Endless Express’ status is cancelled so it seems that this is as good as it will ever get. If you wish, you can also leave a tip for the devs on the pay-what-you-want basis. The production is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux at Itch.
