The Division 3 Officially Confirmed by Ubisoft
The third installment of The Division is in Ubisoft's plans. The French giant revealed in a brief announcement that Massive Entertainment, headed by series veteran Julian Gerighty, will be behind the project.
Ubisoft does not forget about Tom Clancy's The Division. The French company has just revealed, via its website, that the third major installment of the shooter series with MMO elements is in the company's release plans.
Ubisoft's internal studio Massive is still to be responsible for the project. The project will be led by industry veteran Julian Gerighty, who has officially become the brand's executive director.
Existing fans of The Division should therefore breathe easy, knowing that at the upcoming installment was give to a team helmed by a person who, like few others, should feel the series' spirit.
For it is worth noting that Gerighty is associated with The Division brand almost from its very beginning. On the occasion of the first part, he held the position of deputy creative director. In turn, a few years later - at the creation of the second installment - he stopped being a deputy and was promoted to the main position.
Star Wars Outlaws a priority for the studio
It is worth remembering that Massive is also working on an action game, revealed earlier this year, Star Wars: Outlaws, which remains an absolute priority for the studio.
The Division 3 on the other hand, exists only on paper for the time being. As we can read in Ubisoft's announcement, one of Gerighty's main tasks - besides taking care of the proper state of the current games in the series - in his new role will be to complete the team that will develop the game.
Interestingly, this is expected to happen only after the official release of Outlaws, because Gerighty is also the person who is leading the Star Wars project from.
Let me remind you that the release of Star Wars: Outlaws is scheduled for next year. The game will hit PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
In addition, spin-off projects in The Division series are also on the way. We are talking about the F2P Heartland (PC, PS4, XOne, PS5, XSX/S) and Resurgence aimed at mobile devices - both titles are also likely to be released in 2024.
