How I Met Your Mother is a well-loved sitcom that fans around the world have followed for nine years, although the TV series' controversial finale divided them. Nonetheless, there are still people who are eager to revisit the story or follow the fate of the new characters in the spin-off.

One of the stars of How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan, has an idea for another TV show from this world, which could be called a remake of sorts, as the actress would like to tell the same story as in the original production, but from a different perspective, and with some changes. In order for the former actors to return, she would like to age the characters. And the story this time would be told not by the older Ted, but by Marshall played by Jason Segel. The artist talked about it in an interview with People.

It's like, “No, no, no, no kids. That's not how it happened”. And then it starts out with, “We were a lot older, first of all...” and then we can just do the show again.

Hannigan mentioned that “everybody tells the story differently”, and it would be interesting to get Marshall's perspective. Just would fans share her opinion and want to see the same thing, only with minor changes? Because it's hard to imagine that Marshall's recollections of the same events would be radically different from what Ted remembers.

As of now, nothing is known about plans to revisit the How I Met Your Mother TV series in any form. After the cancellation of How I Met Your Father after two seasons in 2023, there is currently silence on the subject and no word on whether the creators are preparing something new.
