Teamfight Tactics Remains Popular, Riot Boasts of 10 Million Players
Riot Games bosted of current stats of Teamfight Tactics, the autobattler set in the League of Legends universe. Since the last update, up to 10 million people have played TFT at the best of times.
- Riot Games bragged about the number of Teamfight Tactics players;
- At peak moments, 10 million people were playing the game at the same time;
- New gameplay modes were also announced for the 11.9 update.
It might seem that Teamfight Tactics, a game based on turn-based, strategic combat, will remain only a curiosity for LoL players, accustomed to fast, dynamic action. Nothing could be further from the truth. From a recent video posted on Riot Games' YouTube channel, we can learn that despite the ups and downs, each major update attracted up to 10 million players to TFT during its peak popularity. That's a big success, especially when compared to DOTA 2 's competitor Dota Underlords, which failed to capture the hearts of a wider audience.
The figures were presented by Stephen Mortimer, the head of the team responsible for Teamfight Tactics at Riot Games. By the way, we learned about the plans for the new event - Reckoning, which will debut on April 28. At the same time, TFT will get, among other things, new, experimental gameplay modes, which may stay in the game permanently, if they gain favor with the players.
One of them will be Hyper Roll, which will enable players to unlimited option to refresh offers to buy heroes for the team. The game will be faster - players will get 10 health points to start, instead of 100 as in standard mode.
These new features are expected on April 28, when the Reckoning event will debut (with update 11.9)
