Tess' New Look in Last of Us Remake Divides Fans
There were complaints about Aloy's peach fuzz in Horizon Forbidden West, and now there's grumbling about the „old and ugly” Tess in the remake of The Last of Us.
Announcement of The Last of Us remake was met with a mixed reception. Some fans consider it completely unnecessary, saying that the original is not even ten years old yet, and it received a remaster on PlayStation 4.
Emotions have also been stirred by further footage from the new version of the game, mainly due to the character models. Some internet users are complaining about Tess, as Joel's companion looks much older than in the original The Last of Us.
In social media there is no shortage of posts from netizens that are angry about Tess' new model shown in Naughty Dog's post on Twitter. In the comments they claim that Tess is simply "ugly" and looks much too old after the "facelift".
However, these complaints, while quite frequent, meet with resentment from many fans. Some people point that, on the one hand, the character's supposed age (there is no official information, but it is assumed that at the time of the events of TLoU Tess is about 40 years old), on the other hand - post-apocalyptic reality of TLoU, which must have left its mark on the smuggler.
Others claim that the remake looks much better not only than the original, but also the second part of the series. The whole thing is simply more realistic - Tess' face is a digitally recreated face of Annie Wersching, who provided the character's voice.
Complaints are therefore - according to many Internet users - as justified as in the case of Aloy's "shocking" peach fuzz in Horizon Forbidden West. The vast majority of fans seem to prefer Tess' new look, even if they still doubt the validity of refreshing the first The Last of Us.
