Another good news for fans of Terraria. Just recently we informed about the fact that the title will receive a new patch, introducing the ability to quickly swap gear sets, and now it turns out that the developer is thinking about another update, introducing crossplay. This is a perfect example of how important the game's community is to its developers.
Terraria is not slowing down
In an interview with pcgamer, Ted Murphy, Re-Logic's head of business strategy, admitted that the studio wants to introduce crossplay so that players using PC, consoles and mobile devices can play together.
"We really want to try crossplay. Our mobile and console team was able to develop almost in parallel with us on PC during Labor of Love, so this work may start sooner rather than later."
While this doesn't mean that crossplay will definitely make it into the game, Murphy's words are undoubtedly a cause for optimism.
When is the latest update?
On the bright side, it's hard to say when Terraria will receive its last update. The developers are coming up with new ideas all the time, and on top of that, the fans themselves are sharing their own suggestions regarding what can be added to the game. Ted Murphy also spoke on this topic, admitting:
"Some of these ideas have been around for a long time, while others came later. On top of that, there were all the fantastic suggestions from the fans. Sometimes you just know it's the right thing to do, and the Labor of Love update is one of those things we had to do before we could feel fully comfortable moving forward."
Re-Logic is currently working on the Labour of Love update in gratitude for the award that the players gave the game on Steam. It will introduce gameplay improvements, changes to weapons, events and much more. Its release date is not yet known.
What's worth adding, even Murphy himself does not think that the fine-tuning of Terraria should end with the release of the Labour of Love update. In the interview he also said:
"Our plans are to shift our focus to our second project after the Labor of Love update.... But who can really say what the future will bring? We think Terraria is as alive and vibrant as ever, and we don't think that's going to stop anytime soon."
