Yesterday's State of Play presentation was exceptionally fruitful. One of the highlights of the show was the announcement of Tekken 8, the latest installment of Bandai Namco Entertainment's hit fighting game series.
- The game is headed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
- The PC version will be sold on Steam.
- No planned release date was provided, and it's difficult to judge at what stage the game is in development. So it's possible that we'll have to wait a lot for it.
Producer Katsuhiro Harada praises the quality of the character models, which are much more detailed than in Tekken 7. He draws attention to such details as raindrops running down the faces of fighters.
Harada also promises spectacular arenas. In the first video, we can see a tornado tearing a sea ship to pieces.
We are also to receive an elaborate storyline, which will focus on the conflict between a father and son, Kazuya and Jin Mishima. Harada claims that the Tekken series is the longest narrative in the video game industry, as it is a single story, developed chapter by chapter since the first installment.
It is worth mentioning at the end that Tekken 7 turned out to be the best-selling installment of the brand, so millions of gamers are waiting for the 8th installment. When teasing the announcement of the next game the creators bet on nostalgic atmosphere, which made some fans think that a remake of the first part or a reboot of the series was being prepared. As you can see, these speculations turned out to be wrong and the devs decided on a classic continuation.
