Morrowind Mod Will Soon Offer Over 500 Quests
A popular modification for Morrowind, called Tamriel Rebuilt will soon be enriched with a new expansion. After its release, the mod will offer a total of over 500 quests and add a new area to the game.
More than 16 years in the making, the The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind mod titled Tamriel Rebuilt will soon have a new expansion called Dominions of Dust. The creators of the project aimed at recreating the entire land of Morrowind in the game (in the basic version of the game and expansions we could visit only a part of it), based entirely on the official lore of the series. Since the last major update of the mod, introducing the region of Aanthirin - which we wrote about in this news - over two years have passed. The upcoming update will add more areas directly to the west of Aanthirin, and will fill them with almost 140 different missions. For comparison, all of the content released so far in Tamriel Rebuilt includes about 360 quests (according to many, they are better quality than those from the base game).
"The new area lies southwest of Vvardenfell and covers a huge chunk of Morrowind - more than twice the size of the previous expansion. However, while Aanthirin was a densely populated basin, these new lands will be quite different. They include three distinct regions: the rocky Roth of Roryn, the desolate Armun Ashalnds, and the southern edge of the mighty Velothi Mountains that mark Morrowind's western border."
Roth Roryn is a sparsely vegetated wasteland that will provide plenty of challenges for medium-level players.. House Hlaalu has several mines near hard-to-reach villages, while the rulers of much of the region try to stop its further development in the quarry city, Bodrum. Towards Aanthirin to the east and the Inner Sea to the north, the land becomes more lush and prosperous, with several plantations. It is also here that the thriving metropolis of Hlaalu - Andothren - is located, whose streets and houses are bustling with life thanks to newly added NPCs.
The Armun Ashlands form a volcanic basin - a southern reminder of the Days of Fire cataclysm when the Red Mountain first erupted, covering most of Morrowind in ash. It is a dangerous land, full of volcanic activity and ash storms, hosting the mighty Armun Kagouti - which is why it is only suitable for high level characters..
The southern Velothi mountains tower over the Dominions of Dust. This region will enable you to feel the breath of frosty northwestern Morrowind, home of House Redoran. These are steep, forested valleys where the famous Dwemer ruins of Hendor-Stardumz are located. Along the snowy ridges you may encounter the Malahk orcs - larger and less compromising cousins of the people of Orsinium. Refreshed textures of rocks and trees help to distinguish this region from the island of Solstheim from the Bloodmoon expansion.
The full, interactive map of the modification can be found here. At this point, the creators claim that more than 40% of the tasks from the upcoming expansion are already fully complete. However, due to the scale of the project they are unable to finish them alone. People interested in taking part in testing, as well as the co-creation of the mod itself can send submissions to this Discord server. If the stars align, we can expect more progress news as early as next month. Ready to return to this (full of) wonder land?
