Until recently, it seemed that the best-rated game of October would be the universally-praised Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

It turns out, however, that another game has swiped this honorable title right from under Insomniac Games title's nose - the latest Mario, which will go on sale officially in two days, on October 20.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder, because this is the game in question, has delighted (almost) all critics. It is worth noting that, like the aforementioned "Spidey 2", it is an exclusive title - only that for Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder - selected ratings

  • GRYOnline.pl - 9/10
  • God is a Geek - 10/10
  • Eurogamer - 5/5
  • VGC - 5/5
  • VG247 - 5/5
  • Wccftech - 9.5/10
  • IGN - 9/10
  • GameSpot - 9/10
  • GamesRadar - 4.5/5
  • Dexerto - 4/5
  • DigitalSpy - 3.5/5
  • Metascore - 93/100 (based on 76 reviews)

The latest adventures of the friendly mustachioed plumber are praised primarily for their unusual level designs, where numerous puzzles are hidden. Reviewers also liked the variety introduced to the game by the new Wonder Flowers mechanic, which takes the protagonist to an alternate dimension.

Placing the game's action in a new realm brought new enemies to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, never before seen in the series - which also found recognition in the eyes of journalists.

Mario's new power-ups, which add some variety to the gameplay, as well as the game's colorful and thus "lively" look, were also positively received.

The badge system - mainly due to the balance - met with mixed reception. In general, it's a set of skills that we can assign before starting a level.

The only shortcomings of the new Mario often mentioned in reviews are the difficulty level, which is too low, and rather mediocre boss fights.
