Steam With Ton of Novelties; New Big Picture Mode, Easier Change of Download Region
Steam has received plenty of useful improvements in the new update, including the Big Picture mode from Steam Deck.
Steam has received another update full of useful new features. Some of them were tested in beta versions of the platform, and from now on they are available to all users in the stable release of the client.
These include a new look for the Big Picture mode native to Steam Deck, which has been tested since October. By default, it makes it easier to navigate Steam when using gamepads even more than the version players have used since 2012 (it has remained almost unchanged since then).
Quick access to recently launched games and improved search options in the store, library and friends list are just some of the new features. Users also received quite a few helpful interface improvements, including more configuration options for controllers and the Big Picture itself (e.g., automatically disabling the controller when exiting this mode).
February's update also introduces minor but useful fixes. From now on Steam will no longer require a restart when changing the download region. This is the first (but not only) convenience that can help players with problems when downloading games. In this case, the feature enables you to bypass Valve's most besieged servers.
Gamers will also appreciate the ability to select the default option to skip the window with additional settings when launching a game, without having to go into the "Properties" of an item. There are also minor improvements, including faster loading of libraries with a large number of titles, pinned notifications and controller settings preview.
A long list of all the changes from the new update can be found in the announcement on Steam.
