IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Valve is starting to ship Steam Deck orders;
  • Some players should have already received the relevant messages;
  • The manufacturer also promises to speed up production.

Valve has started sending out emails about the possibility of shipping Steam Deck. This could mean that at least some people who have reserved the device will receive it sooner than announced. The delivery of Steam Decks is to be accelerated, with messages sent out up to twice a week.

Shipping will be carried out according to the order of reservations - if someone is going to buy a device, they should do it as soon as possible. Queues are unfortunately long. and the store's website mentions shipping after the third quarter of 2022.

Valve's Lawrence Yang mentioned the increase in production in a February interview with IGN:

"In the first month - very quickly - we'll be in the tens of thousands. By the second month, we'll be in the hundreds of thousands. And beyond that it will grow even faster."

In addition to ramping up production, Valve is trying to address many other issues with the portable device, so it releases software updates frequently. Recent two patches have added new features, including the ability to install Windows 11 and the ability to type using both touchpads.

There is also a steady increase in the number of games verified for Steam Deck. Valve announces 2000 confirmed playable titles (more than half have already been tested on the device).
