Steam Almost Hit Another Record During Holidays
A great year for Steam was crowned with another record. This year's holidays were the best in history when we look at the number of active users.
- Valve can be pleased with the result achieved by Steam over the Holidays.
- At peak moment, almost 25 million players were active on the platform.
This year's Holidays brought Steam another record in the number of active users. On Christmas Eve, Valve's platform recorded a peak of around 23 million users, and on the following two days the result was close to 25 million.
This is a much better result than a year ago (at that time, less than 18 million users were active at most), although slightly worse than the all-time record from two weeks ago. However, if the pace continues, next year the barrier of 25 million users should be easily broken.
The breakthrough point for Steam was March 2020 and restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, within a few days, the number of players active players broke through the barrier of 20 million, hitting 24.5 million in April this year.
Such an increase in the number of users also made it possible for several titles to hit it big this year. Among Us, Phasmophobia or the recently released Cyberpunk 2077 may consider themselves to be among the beneficiaries of the situation.
