State of Decay 3 not out until 2026? Rumors of delayed release
State of Decay 3 was to be delayed. According to the latest internal information, the game's release date has been pushed back to 2026.
Zombie game fans are certainly eagerly awaiting State of Decay 3, which was announced over 4 years ago. As of today, we haven't received a release date, but some players have speculated that it is set for 2025. However, according to the latest rumor, the long-awaited sequel to Undead Labs' title may come out a bit later.
At least that's what Jez Corden, editor of Windows Central and one of the hosts of the Xbox Two podcast, claims. In the most recent episode of the podcast, the renowned journalist mentioned that while the release of State of Decay 3 was originally set for 2025, it might have been postponed to 2026. Of course, this information isn't confirmed, so it should not be taken for granted.
Let's recall that in June this year, at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, we finally received a new trailer for State of Decay 3, which included scenes created on the game engine. However, the video lacked fragments of actual gameplay, which may suggest that the title still needs some time to be finished.
It's also worth noting that Microsoft, the publisher of State of Decay 3, already has quite a few games planned for 2025. These are titles such as Avowed, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, South of Midnight, The Outer Worlds 2, and the new Call of Duty. As you can see, the schedule is already quite tight.
If, on the other hand, you feel like playing the previous installment of the series, State of Decay 2, we remind you that at the end of October, the game received its last update, after which the devs ended its development. The game is still available on all platforms, but don't expect any new content.
State of Decay 3 is heading to PC and XSX/S consoles. From the day of the release, the game will be available in the Game Pass subscription.
