AMD to be Bethesda's Exclusive Partner on Starfield; Game May Lack DLSS
AMD has announced that the company will be Bethesda's exclusive technology partner for Starfield. Joining of forces is expected to bring huge benefits to gamers, which will see both PC and Xbox Series X|S console owners.
On its official YouTube channel, AMD released a video from which we learn that the company has been working together with Bethesda on the technical side of Starfield. Senior Vice President of the company, Jack Huynh, mentioned what exactly gamers are to gain from this collaboration:
"Together with Bethesda Game Studios, we worked hand in hand to optimize Starfield for Xboxes and PCs with Ryzen 7000 series processors and Radeon 7000 series graphics cards.
The said optimizations increase performance and improve the quality of gameplay with highly multi-threaded code that will benefit both Xbox and PC players."
According to Huynh, the collaboration will bring an experience that delivers more detail and immersion than before, including during exploration. Equally positive about the matter was Todd Howard, who reiterated that Starfield is the biggest game Bethesda has ever created.
Interestingly AMD employees were to be given access to the Creation Engine 2 code base. It is for this reason that Todd Howard believes that FSR 2.0 technology is doing really well in Starfield. The game not only looks amazing, but also runs extremely smoothly.
Such announcement may suggest that Starfield will not support either DLSS from Nvidia, nor XeSS from Intel. It's unclear whether this is simply due to the fact that the FSR implementation suits Todd Howard's team better, or due to AMD's alleged "dislike" of competitor solutions in "their" games. Jack Hyunh made it clear that the optimization is aimed at Ryzen 7000 processors and Radeon 7000 series graphics cards. He did not mention Intel or Nvidia.
