UPDATE

Bethesda released the June update for Starfield. Update 1.12.30 brings, among other things, support for mods (referred to as Creations here - they are paid, which has already faced strong criticism from players), new Trackers Alliance missions that let you experience what it's like to be a real bounty hunter, a linked scanning system for wanted targets, allowing you to locate and eliminate (or peacefully apprehend?) targets with bounties on their heads, the ability to modify melee weapons during crafting and ammunition crafting, as well as bug fixes, gameplay improvements, and optimizations.

Original news (June 9rd)

We have known for some time that Starfield, the latest game from Bethesda, will receive an expansion. At the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, developers unveiled long-hidden secrets and introduced Starfield: Shattered Space, offering another cosmic adventure for us to embark on.

By the way, it was announced (via a teaser and X) that new free content will be available for Starfield today, along with official mod support in the form of Creation Kit.

Shattered Space is the first story expansion for Starfield. The expansion's storyline involves the emergence of a mysterious force that comes to life in the city of Dazra on the Va'Ruun clan's covert ancestral planet. The aim of the game will be to investigate a cosmic threat on a new planet. Unique weapons, spacesuits, and other equipment will help in this.
