Starfield on PC Officially With DLSS Beta; Devs Also Add Promised Feature [Update]
DLSS has finally made its way to Starfield, though for now only in beta on Steam. Patch 1.8.83 will also add another of the features announced by Bethesda.
Update: Bethesda has introduced fixes to the beta version of the patch, "upgrading" it to number 1.8.84. The changes mainly concern the DLSS feature - its stability and impact on graphics.
Todd Howard has kept his word. Starfield has received DLSS support, although for now only in beta on Steam.
To check out the feature, right-click on the game in your Steam Lobrary, go to "Properties" and in the "Beta" section select "[beta]" from the list. Keep in mind that this is a separate version of the game and must be downloaded separately from the so-called stable release of Starfield. In addition, saves from the beta will be incompatible with it until the actual release of this update, although you can continue the game already started in the base game.
As announced, currently Bethesda only enables you to check DLSS. Support for the competing FidelityFX Super Resolution technology is expected to arrive later.
The developers also gave a full list of changes that can be checked out as part of the beta, which will hit Starfield also on Xbox Series X/S after the debut of update 1.8.83. This takes into account the the fulfillment of another promise from September: adding the option to consume food immediately upon finding it (without having to pick up the item and find it in the inventory).
In addition, the patch will increase the effectiveness of stealth and will eliminate further bugs in gameplay and quests, as well as those related to a novelty from the previous update: the field of view slider. The full list of changes can be found on Bethesda's official website.
The full version of update 1.8.83 will hit players later this month.
