Without These Tools Starfield is Unlikely to Repeat Skyrim's Success
The head of Bethesda confirmed in one of his interviews at the gamescom that Starfield will not lack extensive tools that will enable the players to create their own planets. They will, however, arrive at an as yet unspecified date.
The gamescom 2023 trade show is in full swing. For this reason, a slew of new news about upcoming games is reaching us.
Especially active in this field are developers of Starfield, headed by Bethesda chief Pete Hines. They have been hyping up the game ahead of the September release.
In conversation with representatives of the German branch of Bethesda, Hines confirmed that Starfield will not lack a feature that has significantly contributed to the longevity of such titles as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Fallout 4. We are, of course, talking about mod support and extensive modding potential.
Modding tools in Starfield - as in the aforementioned titles - are to be extensive and will allow for, among other things, the creation of entire new planets.
"There is a great deal of stuff heading to the game. If you think about the communities around Bethesda's games, and give them the right tools to modify these games, they will start to wonder: 'how to make a planet like this?' - it's all going to go beyond the scale of the game, all these things they're going to want to add, even if only the stories they've invented. Once it's all up and running, it will quickly become extremely popular."
Interestingly, Bethesda's boss admitted that he is very much counting on the game's community, as he himself has compiled a list of mods he would like to see in the game.
However, it is worth noting that mods will not be included in Starfield right away. For now, the developers are focusing on the upcoming release and successful launch of the game. Only later will they make modding tools available to a wider range of players.
More details on modding options for Starfield and the Creation Kit tool heading to the game should be known soon.
Let me remind you that Starfield will debut on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles.. Those who decided to purchase the premium edition in pre-order will be able to play the game up to five days before the release.. Simultaneously, the game will be available through Game Pass.
