Starfield Helped; Xbox Games Showcase a Huge Success for Microsoft
The recent Xbox Games Showcase turned out to be a record-breaker in terms of viewership. Much of the credit for this goes to Starfield.
Microsoft has reason to rejoice. The company boasted that the latest show (consisting of the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct segments) has set a new viewership record.
- Within a week of the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 Starfield Showcase, the trailers and other videos shown there were viewed more than 92 million times.
- This result is 38% higher than that achieved at last year's show.
- Overall, it was the most viewed Xbox console event ever.
Microsoft attributes this success to its extensive game offerings. From its own productions, the company showed such items as Starfield, Forza Motorsport, Hellblade II: Senua's Saga, Fable, South of Midnight, Avowed, Clockwork Revolution and Towerborne, and also presented footage from highly anticipated third-party titles, including Star Wars Outlaws, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Cities: Skylines 2 or 33 Immortals.
Small indie games and big-budget productions were shown, heading for both PC and Xbox consoles. As a result, there was something for everyone at the event, which strongly benefited the audience. A key role was also played by the presentation of Starfield, which is one of the most anticipated launches of the year.
Microsoft is not idle. Next month the company will appear at gamescom in Germany, where it will prepare the largest booth in its history. Gamescom 2023 will take place from August 23-27.
