Star Wars: Squadrons on PC is plagued by technical issues that prevent the users from enjoying the game. EA Motive, the company responsible for the title, apparently cut some corners in the PC version. The web was flooded with new reports of errors.
DSOGaming reports that the game has two serious problems. The first is the animation, which is capped at 30 fps, both in cut-scenes and during gameplay. The solution to this problem is to force the screen to refresh at 59.95 Hz and enable V-Sync. This move forces the game to operate at 60 fps. However, people with more expensive monitors lose the benefits of playing at 120 Hz and better.
The second problem is 100% CPU usage, regardless of what is happening in the game. After a dozen or so minutes, CPU usage drops to the level of 70-80%, but this is not an optimal value and causes a serious risk of microstuttering.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. When we start broesing the official subReddit of Star Wars: Squadrons, we will find a lot of bug reports. People report problems with in-game rankings, blur effect or dead zones in joysticks.
Some bugs will of course be fixed in upcoming updates. However, at this point the risk of having our fun spoiled is quite high, so it's wise to wait a bit if you're planning on playing the PC version of the game.
