Star Wars Republic Commando - New Version of Classic FPS' Fan Remaster
A new version of the Star Wars: Republic Commando Remaster mod, a project that refreshes the popular FPS set in the Star Wars universe, has debuted online.
We lived to see a new edition of the fan project called Star Wars: Republic Commando Remaster, a modification that refreshes the classic FPS from 2005.
The next version of the mod was numbered 1.6 and brings a lot of new features. First of all, the authors finally managed to reactivate the EAX surround sound, which had big problems with functioning on modern PCs. Exploding barrels have also been improved, which now illuminate the surroundings when exploding. In addition, multiplayer maps have been improved and new loading screens have been implemented to match modern monitors.

Recall that, as the title suggests, the project acts as an unofficial remaster. The mod improves virtually all textures in the game, replacing them with higher-resolution versions. The gameplay has also been improved and an optional Reshade package was added, upgrading visual effects.
Importantly, Star Wars: Republic Commando Remaster implemented some of the older modifications to the game, so that we get, among other things, support for ultra widescreen resolutions.
Overall Star Wars: Republic Commando Remaster is an impressive project. With this mod, the PC version of the game looks better than the official remaster released in 2021 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.. The authors' further plans include a thorough redesign and upgrade of the entire lighting system, but we'll have to wait a little longer for this attraction.
