Stan Lee receives a tribute in World of Warcraft
An unusual situation will take place in the 8.1.5 patch to World of Warcraft. It turned out that Blizzard decided to honor Stan Lee and place a special character which resembles him in the world of Azeroth.
We don’t need to tell anyone who Stan Lee was and how much he did for the pop culture. The outstanding creator and long-time president of Marvel died in November last year. Since then, he has been mentioned many times by other artists, actors, cartoonists and co-workers. He was even honored by a competitor DC Comics, and for some time a dedicated website appeared in subsequent comic books of the publishing house. The gaming industry could not remain indifferent to such an outstanding character.
The Blizzard company decided to pay an unusual tribute. Together with the 8.1.5 update to World of Warcraft, the company will introduce Stanley's as a guard in Stormwind, proudly walking through the corridors of the castle and greeting the encountered players shouting "Excelsior". This word is probably well known to all comic book lovers, as well as Stan Lee, who made it his favorite saying.
The figure which resembles Stan Lee wears characteristic glasses and a grey moustache. As Wowhead discovered, it's not the only Stanley model made for the game. Blizzard added two more character variants, but their location remains unknown. If the models are really in the game, it's probably a matter of time and fans will find them in the huge world of Azeroth. It is worth recalling that this is not the first time that a deceased person has been honored in WoW. A few years ago, the creators decided to undergo a similar procedure. It was Robin's character that was introduced into the game, which was a commemoration of the late Robin Williams.
