STALKER 2's New Creature Revealed Through Artwork
The STALKER universe will receive a new mutant - Bayun. Originally cut from Shadow of Chernobyl, it will make its way to STALKER 2.
The STALKER universe, be it in games or in books, has always stirred the imagination. Between lethal radiation and the occasional emission, it is the mutants that play an important role in building the atmosphere of the Zone - the most dangerous place on Earth. The developers decided to enrich this universe, so STALKER 2 will feature a new mutant - Bayun.
Bayun inspires revulsion as well as admiration
We know that Bayun will be a mutated cat, which, altered by radiation and harsh living conditions, can pose a deadly threat to any Stalker.
Studio GSC Game World, however, has not shared more details or even rumors with us. The creature itself inspires disgust at first glance, sparking a reaction from the Stalker community:
There was also no shortage of funny insights, referring to the world of STALKER:
The community in general welcomed the news of a new mutant. Zone's fauna has always been extensive, and enriching it with a new creature seems like a good move.
Dog people also have reason to be happy
Bayun could be an interesting alternative to Pseudodogs or Blind Dogs, assuming thet will appear in the game. However, we may find out about this soon. The cat information was published on August 8 to mark International Cat Day, but August 26 is the International Dog Day and this could be a great opportunity to share more artwork with the fans.
What's interesting, Bayun was already supposed to appear in older installments of the series, but ultimately never made it. Only texture and sound files were preserved, which was eagerly used by modders in Stalker Anomaly.
Ever since the announcement of STALKER 2's delay to December 2023, players have been outdoing themselves in presenting their original creations. From time to time we also read about controversies related to changes in the game. A few days ago we learned about potential leaks, and even earlier about removal of Russian dubbing from the title. As you can see, the developers did not manage to avoid conflicts.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on PC and Xbox Series S/X. The title is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 to take full advantage of the universe's potential. As a reminder - the STALKER series consists of three entries: Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Skies and The Call of Pripyat. In addition, there have also been published books by Michal Golkowski, in which the author draws wholeheartedly from this universe. The new game's planned release date is December 2023.
