South of Midnight delivers atmospheric adventure with stunning graphics. Story trailer brings release date
Xbox Developer Direct brought more news about South of Midnight. We learned the game's release date.
As announced, during Xbox Developer_Direct 2025 show, Compulsion Games studio presented new materials from their upcoming game South of Midnight. The devs of the intriguing We Happy Few - as we could see earlier - once again focus on originality. We also learned the official release date of this title. South of Midnight will be released on April 8, 2025, on PC and XSX/S.
South of Midnight - most important info
As a reminder - in South of Midnight, we will play as Hazel, a young woman from the deep south of the United States, who lost her mother and home in a devastating hurricane. By harnessing the supernatural abilities the protagonist discovered due to the disaster, we will unveil her family's secrets, confront monsters inspired by local folklore, and slowly restore the world devastated by the elements (we will also embark on a quest to find Hazel's mother, who, as the trailer indicated, is most likely alive). All of this is in a unique graphic design, reminiscent of stop-motion films, and to the rhythm of Olivier Deriviere's fantastic music.

The trailer that was shown provided many details about Hazel's story and the enchanting fictional town of Prospero. We can take a closer look at some of the secondary characters, as well as an entire army of mythical creatures (including, for instance, Huggin Molly shown for the first time). The material also shows Hazel's new skills in action and some breathtaking locations. We could also venture to say that this trailer is an audiovisual masterpiece.
From the latest post by the developers, we also learned that the game should provide us with between 10 and 20 hours of fun. Moreover, it's already known that the key element of gameplay will be the use of magic, including spells like "pulling, pushing, and tangling," which will add a dynamic element of dexterity to combat.
It's also worth mentioning that the title will be available on the PC Game Pass / Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription on the day of its release.
