Sony Ends Production of Most PS4 Models
Sony has discontinued several PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro models. Only the basic version of the Japanese 8th-gen console will remain on sale.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Sony end the production of most PlayStation 4 models;
- Only the basic PS4 Jet Black 500GB version will remain on sale.
Sony is ending the production of the majority of PlayStation 4 models: PS4 500 GB Glacier White, PS4 1 TB Jet Black, PS4 1 TB Glacier White, PS4 2 TB Jet Black and PS4 Pro 1 TB Glacier White. The news first appeared in a tweet of one of the gamers living in Japan and then was confirmed in an official announcement. Only the basic PS4 Jet Black 500GB will remain on sale.
It is worth recalling that rumors about the withdrawal of Sony's 8th-gen console from production appeared as early as last month, but at that time they concerned only the stronger PS4 Pro.
The released capacity is to be used in the production of PlayStation 5, and it's no secret that the creators of PlayStation want players to switch to next-gen device as soon as possible. However, in practice the latter is still not available in many parts of the world. The only thing that remains to be hoped for is that these actions will bring the desired result and make it easier for customers to get their PS5.
Finally, it is worth noting that the announcement has been published in Japan for the time being and may only concern the Japanese market (although it seems quite likely that the PS4 consoles will stop being sold in other countries as well), so keep this in mind. If Sony refers in some way to other parts of the world, we will not fail to inform you about it.
