Songs of Conquest's Level Editor Will Delight Heroes Fans
Inspired by Heroes of Might & Magic, Songs of Conquest promises to be a good game, and players' appetite was whetted even further by the presentation of the game's level editor, which will give fans a lot of room to play.
Songs of Conquest is going to be the Heroes game that fans of this classic two-dimensional series dream of. However, in addition to the content prepared by the Swedish studio Lavapotion, the game will offer one more attraction - an extensive editor, which was briefly shown on the new video.
This is not the first opportunity to see the editor in action. It was previously discussed in the November episode of the developer diary, which was posted on YouTube. More has been revealed in subsequent materials released by Lavapotion. It should be noted, however, that these videos focus on the use of these tools from a developer's perspective, although we already know that the editor will be available to buyers along with the game.
In the new video, the devs do not go into detail - focusing on how easy the editor is to use. Placing trees, buildings and units, changing the lighting at a given point, raising mountains, etc. - all this should be easy to do. There will be a choice of five map sizes (from small 46x46 fields to huge 256x256 maps), as well as plenty of different settings.
As for how to share the works created in the editor, it is still an open question for the developers. The team is considering Mod.io, which offers, among other things, cross-platform support. For now, no final decision has been made on this matter. The same applies to the possibility to play on randomly generated maps, which the developers "hope" to make available after the release.
Songs of Conquest will be released on May 10, although only in Early Access on Steam. We will have to wait about a year for the debut of the full version.
