Some Games Bought on Origin Still Not Work; EA App Ails
Gamers using the EA App are reporting big problems. Many games and DLCs previously purchased on Origin are supposedly not appearing in the app.
Electronic Arts has once again disappointed the gamers. For some time their digital distribution systems have been plagued by an unusual and highly annoying problem. A sincere thank you to forum user who got us interested in the topic.
- The problem is that some games purchased on Origin do not appear in the EA App, which replaced the publisher's previous application.
- This applies both to standalone items (such as the Polish FPS Bulletstorm or DLCs for The Sims), as well as those purchased as part of sets that are no longer available. For example - the SimCity Plus Edition bundle contained the game plus the Cities of Tomorrow DLC. The collection has already been withdrawn from distribution, and people who previously purchased it see in the EA App only SimCity, without the expansion. This is despite the fact that this DLC is still on sale as a separate product.
- Players who still have the Origin client (which is officially no longer available) can see all of their purchases in that app, as well as when they log into the official website - only the EA App is missing. What's more, if they were previously installed, they can still be run, so the system recognizes that a person owns a particular title. However, after uninstalling such items, you can no longer download them again.
- You also can't, for example, enter a key for the missing product in the EA App, because the app then informs you that it has already been used before.
- The official thread on Electronic Arts forum is full of players writing what games and DLCs they have lost due to the issue. In some cases they manage to recover them with the help of the publisher's staff, while others are still waiting to be salvaged.
- The situation is exacerbated by the fact that these problems have been reported for many months, and Electronic Arts has so far been extremely unwilling to deal with them - many players are sent back to useless advice and still can't get their games back. In addition, for some reason, the publisher seems to be particularly persistent in ignoring all those who have lost their copies of Bullestorm.
We sent an inquiry to Electronic Arts representatives regarding the problems described above and a possible course of action when encountered by any of the company's customers. For now, we are waiting for the publisher's response and when we receive it we will update this article.
