Sniper Elite V2 Remastered Launches. The Reviews Look Slim
The day of the premiere of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered has come. The game debuted on PC and consoles, and the first reviews do not give the devs any reasons to be satisfied.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, a refreshed version of the popular 2012 shooter by Rebellion, debuted on the market. The game hit the PC as well as Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles.
There is a promotion on Steam that includes a 10% discount on the price of the game. An alternative option for those who have the first version of Sniper Elite V2 has also been made available on Valve's platform. They can buy the remaster for $9.99.
Compared to the original, the biggest changes took place in the visuals. The differences are well shown in the Candyland video (you can see it above). It offers a graphical comparison between the PC versions of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered and Sniper Elite V2. It shows that the devs have improved the textures in some places. Shadows also look much better, and locations have gained in detail.
A lot of reviews have already appeared on the web. The PC version currently has an average rating of 54% on Metacritic. For PlayStation 4 version it's 65% and 73% for Xbox One release. As you can see, the remaster was not received with enthusiasm. Generally criticized is the lack of significant improvements in the gameplay and altogether modest changes in the graphic design. The game is also pales in comparison with the third and fourth installments of the cycle. Below are some examples of review scores:
- PlayStation Universe - 7.5/10
- GameSpace - 7.5/10
- The Digital Fix - 7/10
- Game Watcher - 6.0/10
- CGM - 6/10
- Push Square - 5/10
- PC Invasion - 2/5
- Screen Rant - 2/5
All in all, the return of the second part of the series was not very successful. Fortunately, fans may be looking forward to other projects from this franchise. There are plans to create a new version designed for VR devices, and Rebellion has already started production of Sniper Elite 5.
