Sniper Elite 4: first gameplay video showing off X-ray kills and climbing
The first gameplay video from Sniper Elite 4 appeared online. footage exhibits one of the game's locations, the famous X-ray kills, as well as the newly introduced climbing mechanics.
At this week’s GDC, Rebellion showed a hands on demo of Sniper Elite 4 during a behind closed door presentation. Using that opportunity, Eurogamer (as well as a couple of other websites) posted a several-minute long pre-alpha gameplay video from the next incarnation of the popular sniping series. The material shows off some landmark features of the franchise, spearheaded by the brutal X-ray kill camera, but featuring some new stuff as well. The player will now be able to draw the guards’ attention with a whistle, as well as climb up on walls and rooftops, like in an Assassin’s Creed game.
The town seen in the video is one of smallest locations in the game, despite it being three times larger than any of the maps featured in Sniper Elite 3. The fourth installment will be set in Nazi German-occupied Italy, where the protagonist Karl Fairburne gets sent to liberate the country. Sniper Elite 4’s story campaign will offer a co-op mode. Furthermore, the game will include online multiplayer. Sniper Elite 4 will be out for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this year.
