Skyrim - Mod Adds AI-enhanced Textures
The Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed mod, which beautifies the basic version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and its expansions, made its debut online. AI was used to create the mod.
- The Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed texture enhancement mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has appeared online.
- It was prepared using AI (ESRGAN in BC1smooth2 mode).
- It requires from 0.6 to 1.6 GB of additional free VRAM.
Although The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim saw the Special Edition a few years ago, which clearly improves its technical side, players still don't forget about the original version of the title from 2011. It is still receiving fresh modifications, among other things to improve its visuals. Recently, another work of this kind was released, called Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed. It contains textures "cleaned" from artefacts resulting from compression. It can be downloaded in two versions - full, weighing over 19 GB, and slightly "slimmed down", with only basic components, taking a bit over 10 GB. Both can be found by clicking on the link below.
The author of Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed mod is the Skyrim lover known as kartoffel. To create it he used AI, namely ESRGAN in BC1smooth2 mode to sharpen the images. As a result, he managed to eliminate some angular elements from the textures present in the original version of Skyrim (also those available in the HD package prepared by Bethesda) and smooth them out. A small sample of the final effect can be found below.
According to the words of kartoffel, if we install Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed on Skyrim with add-ons and a pack of HD textures, then we will need between 0.6 and 1.6 GB of free VRAM (depending on the version we choose). If we have that much, then we shouldn't feel any performance drops while playing. Remember, however, that TES V in the basic version is a 32-bit game, which means that it can use up to 4 GB of VRAM. If someone has already installed some visual mods and is close to reaching this limit, then they must take into account that after adding Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed, small stutters may appear, even if they have a GPU with more than 4 GB of VRAM.
Although Cleaned Textures - Uncompressed makes the classic Skyrim look more beautiful, it doesn't make it unrecognizable. If someone wants, they can start experimenting with other modifications. That's what 955StarPooper did, installing over 300 different mods on his TES V version. You will find what came out of it in this message.
