Skype Added Option for Custom Backgrounds
Skype has received an update that allows users to add their own background to video calls. This option is available only in the desktop version of the app, except for the Windows 10 release, which can be found in Microsoft Store.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- The new version of Skype enables us to add our own background to the conversation;
- This option is available in the desktop version of the app, except for the Windows 10 release, which can be found in Microsoft Store.
Softpedia reports that Microsoft has added an interesting feature to the latest version of Skype. We now have the ability to decorate the video conversation with our own background, which enables us to hide the look of the room we are in (not everyone wants to brag about the house in front of their co-workers) - and in a way that is not just a boring blur.
You can find the appropriate option in settings, in the "Sound and image" section. You can enable it by default, so it will be active from the very beginning of the program's use (we will be asked about it after running the wizard enabling us to adjust other parameters as well). There is also an option to add a background to an ongoing call - just click on the three dots icon and select the "select background effect" function.
Interestingly, the function appeared only in the desktop version of Skype dedicated to Windows, Linux and macOS - the one you can download from the manufacturer's website. This does not apply to the Windows 10 release, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. The latter only allows for traditional screen blurring so far.
