Skull & Bones Launch No Sooner Than Next Year
Ubisoft announced that the pirate action game Skull & Bones will be released in April 2022 at the earliest. However, we may have to wait for this title even until March next year.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- The launch of Skull & Bones has been delayed again - the title will not be released until 2022 or early 2023;
- The game is reportedly looking better and better - development has advanced significantly in the last 12 months.
Ubisoft announced during the recent investor call that the online pirate action game Skull & Bones will be released between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023. This means that the release has been delayed again.
“We strongly believe in the team’s creative vision and they have been given an increasingly ambitious mandate for the game. Production led by [Ubisoft] Singapore has been advancing well over the past 12 months and the promise is better than ever. The additional time will allow the team to fully deliver on its vision." said Ubisoft CFO Frédérick Duguet.
The French company's CEO, Yves Guillemot, is also pleased with the direction and progress of the Ubisoft Singapore team.
“What we have been doing to make sure they could really come strongly with Skull & Bones is we increased the associate studios that are working with them at the moment so there’s a good and big team now working on the game and the last 12 months have really been good in terms of the way things were coming along, so we are confident they can really bring something really exceptional for the market," Ubisoft's CEO argued.
Skull & Bones has been facing considerable problems for years - originally, the game was supposed to be released in 2018, but its release was delayed by another year and such a scenario repeated several more times. According to reports by Jason Schreier from February 2020, the game's development was rebooted several times. In July last year, we learned that the developers had a completely new idea for their creation - inspired by Fortnite - while a few months later, it was promised that this year the players would see the game again.
