SimCity 4 Legendary Network Addon Mod Gets New Version on 20th Anniversary [Update: Version 48 is out]
We lived to see a new version of the excellent project called Network Addon Mod, the most important modification for SimCity 4.
Update
Almost a year after the release of the previous version of Network Addon Mod, the project recieved update 48. The authors have strongly expanded the options of constructing railroad connections and improved many visual elements related to the organization of pedestrian traffic.

After the failure of SimCity from 2013, Electronic Arts practically completely abandoned the brand, and the position of the leader of city builders was taken over by Cities: Skylines. However, there are players who have not abandoned Maxis' classic series and continue to play SimCity 4. Strongly facilitated by the excellent project called Network Addon Mod, which has just received an update. It was released to celebrate the 20th birthday of the game.

The new version is numbered 47 and brings many changes.
- Road construction options have been expanded, offering new options for creating intersections and additional elements to facilitate pedestrian traffic, including underpasses.
- Options related to constructing railroads have also been significantly expanded, introducing, among other things, new ramps and bridges and additional structure heights.
- Several bridges unrelated to railroads have also been added.
- The authors thoroughly refreshed hundreds of scripts related to determining the routes of movement of pedestrians and vehicles on the map.
- There were also numerous bug fixes.
Recall that the Network Addon Mod improves SimCity 4 mainly in terms of road and rail transportation, which in the basic version left a lot to be desired. The mod expands the list of available types of roads, bridges, overpasses, bypasses and other types of connections, and enables us to place them more freely, without being limited to 90-degree turns. On top of that, there are improved AI modules governing transportation, making city traffic more natural.
It is worth adding that the mod requires the Rush Hour DLC and works only with the boxed version of the game and editions that you buy on Steam and GOG.com. The edition available on EA App/Origin (and Game Pass) is outdated and cannot be upgraded to the latest version, required by Network Addon Mod. This is all the more annoying because Electronic Arts is using screenshots from the mod to promote the game on its platform, despite the fact that it does not support this project.
