Starfield will debut in just over a month. Unsurprisingly, Bethesda is providing gamers with more interesting details about the game. We recently received three unusual trailers, and now an extensive interview with one of the producers of the upcoming title. She calls the side quests a "treasure trove" of interesting stories.

"[Side quests are - ed. note] a treasure trove of captivating narratives that many folks might not even realize exist. While some may rush through the main golden path storyline, those intrepid explorers who venture off the beaten path and delve into the faction quests are in for a real treat."

Side quests are Starfield's strong point

The aforementioned producer is Jamie Mallory. She recently took part in an episode of Starfield Direct - where she talked about the spaceship construction system in Starfield. In the new interview she touched on some additional issues.

  1. Representatives of different factions will receive amazing stories that will be attractive to the player especially with regard to side quests.
  2. The content of secondary missions is expected to be "amazing," claims Mallory.
  3. Every choice and interaction with characters is expected to shape these stories.
  4. Performing side quests in Starfield is supposed to be like discovering diamonds that will enrich the overall story and make it more interesting.

"The amount of content packed into these faction storylines is truly astonishing. It's like embarking on a grand adventure within an adventure, where every choice you make and every interaction you have shapes the course of the tale. [...] These quests offer a chance to delve deeper into the game's rich lore and uncover hidden gems that add layers of depth and excitement to the overall experience," Mallory continues.

In addition, Bethesda's representative guarantees that rewards for side missions will compensate well for the time and effort spent on completing them. It remains to hold her to her word.

Mission boards in Starfield

We also learned from the interview that Jamie Mallory is responsible for such elements of the game as the look and function of the map, terminals and mission boards.

  1. Starfield's mission objectives will be placed on the aforementioned board.
  2. It is supposed to inform players what challenges are available in a particular area during space exploration.

"(...) As for the star map, we got to craft a map that would be a part of the immersive universe, that players could use to explore space and find where to go next on their adventures. The terminals added another layer of depth to the game, usually giving players more insight into the story and lore for the area they are currently in. The Mission Board also kept us all on our toes, ensuring players had exciting challenges to tackle while exploring the cosmos," adds the producer.

Starfield will debut on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game will simulatneously be available on Game Pass. In addition, it has received the Xbox Play Anywhere status.
