Shattered Paradise - Fan-made C&C: Tiberian Sun Expansion Gets New Version
A new version of the Shattered Paradise project, a standalone expansion mod for Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, has been released. This is pretty much a free game built on the foundations of this iconic RTS.
A new version of the popular Shattered Paradise mod has been released. It's a fan-made expansion for Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. The mod an open-source project, which in practice is a free stand-alone game. It does not require the basic version of the said RTS. Just download the mod and run the installer, and it will independently download everything it needs from Tiberian Sun.
Such a solution is possible because the game was made available for free by Electronic Arts a long time ago. Shattered Paradise downloads only things that are needed for the mod, so if you want to play "pure" Tiberian Sun you have to download the game separately (for example from our FTP server).
Shattered Paradise enriches the game with three new factions (Scrin, Mutants and Cabal), known from later installments of the series. Additionally, the gameplay balance has been improved and a lot of gameplay tweaks have been introduced, based on several decades of experience of the fan community. The project offers multiplayer and quick battles against AI. One story mission is also available.
It's all based on the OpenRA engine, offering the same changes as this project, such as support for high wide-screen resolutions and improved controls.
The new version of Shattered Paradise is the so-called playtest. The authors still have some things to improve and they want the players to help them in finding the problems. To this end, a network tournament has been started, thanks to which there are no major problems with finding users willing to compete. If you want to join these skirmishes, it is also worth visiting the mod's official Discord channel.
