Seems Like Work on Cyberpunk Orion has Officially Begun
Some of CD Projekt's developers recently reached out to the studio's Boston branch in the US, suggesting that work on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has officially taken off.
On December 5 Cyberpunk 2077 received update 2.1, which ended support - at least with new content - for this title, and today we are receiving information that suggests that work on the continuation of this game, known under the working name Project Orion, has officially started.
The official start of work on the sequel to CP 2077 is clearly suggested by "tweets" from CD Projekt's leading developers connected to the game, i.e. narrative director Igor Sarzynski and quest director Pawel Sasko.
In their entries, both men boasted that they had reached the office in Boston, the city where the new branch of CD Projekt is located, which, together with creators from Vancouver and Poland, will be responsible for the development of the Cyberpunk IP.
It's worth noting that both Sarzynski and Sasko (as well as Sarah Gruemmer mentioned in the "tweet") are people who are responsible for storytelling at CD Projekt. It is likely that today the first talks about the shape of the plot that we will see in Orion started.
Although there has been a lot of talk about the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 in recent months, including that the game (this time) will put more emphasis on character origins, the release of the game seems very distant. For now, the Polish studio's main efforts are directed towards the new The Witcher RPG, on which almost 400 people were supposed to be working in November 2023.
