Saints Row Reboot to Have Richest Customization in the Series' History
Volition published further information on the new Saints Row. The reboot will offer a wealth of customization options, and the developers are also preparing some surprises.
It's been a while since the announcement of Saints Row's return as a rebooted adventure. We already had a chance to see the first details and gameplay demonstration, but it's not the end. Developers from Volition shared more information about the new Saints Row.
In addition to assurances that the team is preparing "the best Saints Row ever", the devs addressed several issues raised by fans after the game's reveal. It's about introducing new characters, which shouldn't come as a surprise after - without going into details - the end of the previous installment. Volition was determined that this time the players should create their criminal empire from scratch around, starting with forming a gang rather than joining an existing one. Not that the four renegades lack experience in legally dubious activities. Neenah, Kevin, Eli and The Boss, led by us, had already been in trouble with the law. However, it's only with us that the team will begin their serious criminal careers in the city of Santo Ileso.
"Disillusioned with the American Dream, trying to make ends meet and sick of working for other gangs, our new characters decide to use their skills to start their own criminal venture, take over the city and get rich. During this journey, they take over more and more of the underbelly of Santo Ileso, and that’s when you start to notice some visual changes."
The new cast and city will translate into a slightly different style of play. However, the devs reassure: it will still be Saints Row - crazy, full of charisma, glamour, and purple. This will be manifested, for example, in the customization system for characters and vehicles, which is to be the most extensive one in the history of the series. The Boss will speak with one of eight voices (four male and as many females), and players will be able to change his (or her) appearance to a great extent. Volition is also preparing some surprises, including the co-op mode, which will enable friends to join the fun at any point during the story campaign.
Saints Row will be released on February 25, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Until then, Volition will likely share more information, including co-op and new radio stations.
