Rumor: Battlefield 6 Will Take Place in Modern Times
There have been reports that Battlefield 6 will be set in modern times. In addition, the project's Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are said to be shafted compared to PC, Xbox Series X and PS5 releases.
EA and DICE are preparing to announce the new Battlefield game. So far, we know practically nothing official about the project. Now, however, there are reports that BF6 will be set in contemporary reality.
The source is Tom Henderson, the CEO of Viral Junkie. We believe his words, because earlier he had informed many times about things that turned out to be true, including the title and content of last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The report on the modern setting of Battlefield 6 was also confirmed by Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat.
According to Grubb, Battlefield 6 is heading for both current and next-gen consoles. Priority is given to PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions, while XONE and PS4 releases will be somewhat shafted for technical reasons and a separate, smaller team is working on them. Henderson speculates that it was the need for two development teams to get involved in the project that made DICE finish the development of Battlefield V.
As a reminder, Battlefield 6 was mentioned in a recent issue of PlayStation Official Magazine UK, where the game was listed among the projects aimed at PS5. According to the information contained therein, the release will not take place until 2021.
We expect Battlefield 6 to be revealed shortly. The most likely date seems to be June 19, when the EA Play event will take place. The game is scheduled to be announced in the next issue of PlayStation Official Magazine UK, among other things, so we shouldn't wait long for the official announcement.
