'Romance Is a Dragon Age Thing.' In the Veilguard, Bioware Will Give Players Freedom in Choosing Their Relationships
Studio BioWare confirmed that romance options in Dragon Age: The Veilguard won't be limited by the gender of our character. The game is also expected to have no shortage of nudity and sex scenes.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard, as befits a BioWare game, will offer numerous romance options. We have now gained some insight into how they will function.
Every member of the party is to be pansexual
The game won't block any romances due to the gender of our character. Every team member will be pansexual, which might appear unusual, but it's difficult to fault the developers for it. Such a solution will simply offer us full freedom in shaping romantic relationships.
This was the case with Baldur's Gate 3 and no one complained about it. Whereas, Cyberpunk 2077 took a different approach, and players soon created modifications that enabled, for instance, engaging in a romance with Judy when playing as a male character (currently most effectively achieved in Project CyberCAT-SimpleGUI).
Characters in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be "playersexual"
However, BioWare's scriptwriters didn't want the characters to be "playersexual" - in such a case, their preferences would change depending on the character we create. Instead, each of them was designed from the ground up to be pansexual, and the plot reflects that.
- Players can begin flirting with companions early in the campaign, but it will take some time before the options for genuine romances are available.
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard is designed as a game for adult audiences, so there will be nudity and sex scenes.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being developed for PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. The premiere will take place in the fall of this year.
The game ended up being one of the most talked-about announcements of the "pseudo-E3", but not necessarily for positive reasons. First, players were very disappointed by the trailer shown at Xbox Games Showcase, which was compared to Fortnite in style and atmosphere. However, it turned out that this trailer wasn't representative and the extensive gameplay revealed that the game will be more serious. Nevertheless, this gameplay footage sparked different controversies by showing that the game will focus more on action, greatly restricting RPG elements.
