River City: Rival Showdown, a beat'em up previously known only to owners of the Nintendo 3DS console, is heading to new platforms. The title will get a number of new features, which include visuals, controls and integration with Double Dragon Duel.

Arc System Works and APlus Games have announced that 2016 Nintendo 3DS game River City: Rival Showdown will make its way to new platforms. On October 12, the refreshed and expanded version of this title will become available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
The devs and publisher have released a trailer and a handful of information on what attractions they have prepared for the new platforms. The new version of the game will bring a number of improvements, including better controls, enhanced backgrounds and the ability to play online. In addition, the title will include Double Dragon Duel, in which players will be able to face each other and fight fierce duels in arenas.
- The main character of River City: Rival Showdown is Kunio, a character well known to fans of the series. This time the protagonist is embroiled in a mysterious affair. On the one hand, he is attacked by unknown perpetrators, and on the other - the girlfriend of Riki, Kunio's rival and best friend, disappears without a trace. These two events are connected, and the hero has only three days to unravel the mystery.
- River City: Rival Showdown retains the classic style of the series, being a two-dimensional beat'em up. During the game, we traverse locations and fight enemies.
- Kunio, using various types of punches, as well as objects such as a wooden baton or an umbrella, has to face various gangsters. As he progresses, the protagonist grows stronger, which enables him to fight increasingly powerful opponents.
