The PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is at hand, as the game is going to launch on January 28th. Before that happens we can get prepared for it mentally by reviewing the officially released minimum system requirements and now also by looking through the game’s graphics settings revealed at CES 2016 (a picture posted below). PC players with powerful enough systems will be able to enjoy such visual effects as Ambient Occlusion, Tesselation, and Dynamic Foliage.
Note that Rise of the Tomb Raider PC will make use of PureHair, which is a major step forward from TressFX 3.0 that we’ve seen in 2013’s Tomb Raider. The technology invented by Eidos Montreal in cooperation with AMD aims to give Lara even more realistically looking hair than in her previous adventures. It’s also said to be more power efficient, so it shouldn’t be such a hard time for your PC to play with this option on. Interestingly, PureHair was first announced to appear in the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Eidos Montreal’s another game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is also said to sport Windows 10-specific NVIDIA’s VXAO (Voxel-Based Ambient Occlusion), although it cannot be seen in the picture posted above.
