Over the course of 11 seasons of The Walking Dead, there have been many tragic events, but one in particular may have been memorable for fans. It was widely reported after the premiere of the episode and reached more than just fans of the series – it just shows how much of an impression it made on pop culture followers.

Did this character's death scene went too far in The Walking Dead?

We are referring, of course, to Glenn's tragic death at the hands of Negan, which The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln recently mentioned in an interview with Empire. Rick's actor believes they may have overdone it with this scene.

I do still think [Glenn’s death] might have been when we over-egged the omelette. Maybe it was lingering too much. [Filming it was among] the most intense nights of shooting I’ve ever been part of. He [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] had to do this extraordinary monologue on his first day at work, and everybody was on their knees and weeping when they weren’t on camera. [Morgan] came over and went, ‘Is this normal?’ I went, ‘Yeah, everybody just keeps going.’ It was an extraordinary night.

So it was a difficult night not only for the characters of The Walking Dead, but also for the actors themselves, who lived through it with them. Lincoln added that Morgan, „one of the nicest guys you’re ever going to meet,” was given the role of „one of the most unpleasant characters”.

As for Lincoln himself – although he left the series in season 9, his character eventually returned in his own spin-off, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, where Rick was able to reunite with Michonne.
