'Revenge Time'; PlayStation Fanboys Plan Review Bombing of Starfield
Starfield has already fallen victim to review bombing once, but die-hard PlayStation fans are said to be preparing another attack. For now, they are limiting themselves to spoiling the game's plot.
Bethesda's new game could be a strong candidate for the title of not only RPG, but game of the year. However, the humor of the creators may be spoiled by supporters of the competition. No, it's not about Baldur's Gate 3 fans, but PlayStation 5 owners threatening to review bomb Starfield as "revenge."
As noted by Tech4Gamers, there is no shortage of users on Twitter who are announcing they will give negative ratings to Bethesda's new game on Metacritic. Heck, some have started bombing as early as June, even though they obviously haven't had access to the game yet (via GamesRadar ). Of course, these "honest" notes were quickly deleted.
- X/Twitter user Niko Mueller - the same one who reported on the June "reviews" - noted a handful of posts whose authors announced that Metacritic would be flooded with negative reviews using hundreds or even thousands pf accounts.
- One of these posts mentions that this is "supposed to be payback" for similar actions for PlayStation exclusives - from The Last of Us: Part II to Final Fantasy XVI.
Of course, these and other comments can be considered a joke by gamers - as long as we completely ignore not only June's "reviews" of Starfield, but also the tendency of players to review bomb games for more or less legitimate reasons.
There is another aspect of this case that suggests that the review bombing threats are not just a joke. Plot details of Starfield have been leaked to the web, and among the people spreading this information are the same Internet users who are promising to flood Metacritic with negative reviews (via @PeterOvo5 on Twitter). The war between lovers of different consoles has by no means died out.
Starfield will debut on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game has already gone gold and since yesterday players can preload the files (to which we probably owe the leaked storyline).
