Red Dead Redemption 2 release date possibly leaked
October 3, 2017 is a possible release date of Red Dead Redemption 2. This information comes from a Polish retailer and seems quite probable, even though the store claims it was just a mistake.
Red Dead Redemption 2 could be launching on October 3, 2017 – such information appeared on the product page in an online store of a popular Polish retailer Media Markt. The date was soon changed to an obvious placeholder (December 31, 2017), but that’s not the end of the story. Before the change occurred, CD Action reported that they had received a confirmation from the store that the October release date was coming directly from the local distributor. Here’s our translation of the first statement:
With regard to the question, I wish to inform you that according to the information our marketing department received from the product’s distributor the release date is planned for October 3.
Later, however, CD Action got a second statement. This one claimed that the store didn’t have the date and it was all just a mistake:
We haven’t got a confirmed release date. We expect it to be this year, which is why it was changed to the last day of the year. The October date was incorrectly entered by the person responsible for the product’s description. We are sorry for the mistake.
Well, that would seem legit, if not for the fact that the source originally claimed the info was solid and coming from the publisher. A possible case scenario is that the store broke a NDA and had to retract that first statement. The bottom line is, we can’t be sure if Red Dead Redemption 2 really is expected to launch on October 3. However, that seems likely – after all, the game was supposed to come out this fall.
